Since 1990, Mechanic Falls has obtained millions of dollars in grants and has completed several major projects, including complete rebuilds of the infrastructure and roads of Pleasant Street in 1997 (Rte 121) and North Main Street (Rte 124) in 2000. Another major project completed was the Depot Square Transportation Center in the heart of the downtown. This provides off-street parking to reduce congestion, pedestrian and bicycle downtown access.
